Just love what you bring to the page. I remember your lecture on scene. This got me: "The stage is set for the premiere, on Saturday, of an Athol Fugard play about tragedy, guilt and the legacies of apartheid. There’s gravel and barbed wire. A backdrop of a moody sky. But that’s all for tomorrow." Big context.
Rhony, you remember that talk! I love it. Isn't it great the way that places change context from one moment to the next? You can't help but wonder what it means, what connection is being made, whether something is carried over. I think in this case the connection is baffling, but how can we not try to make sense of it somehow, and make a narrative? It's a compulsion.
I feel like Kleenex should sponsor this post! This is fascinating stuff, Sanj. Who knew this was a thing? How did you get these folks to share their deepest, darkest sneeze secrets with you?
Thanks Hilary! It's always hard to ask a person their secrets, but also I think many people want to tell them. Samantha in this story told me that she was so private about her fetish that she didn't get a chance to talk about it with anyone, so she appreciated the opportunity. We all want to be seen I think.

I've been writing my first fiction piece, and your talk has permeated my process. We'll see how it goes.
What?! I had no idea. You are a miner of the minor but oddly compelling.
I love "miner of the minor"!

Agree!
